The tools on this website

Every tool here runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device. Results download like any other file, into your Downloads folder unless your browser asks where to save them.

If a tool seems stuck, give it a moment the first time: video, background removal and image to text download their engine before they start. Very large videos are quicker in the app, which uses your device’s video hardware.

If a file won’t open, check it opens elsewhere first. A PDF that won’t open anywhere may be helped by Repair.

Finding your files in the app

Everything the app makes is saved in its own folder. Open the Files app, tap Browse, then On My iPhone (or On My iPad), and open Sonic Tools. From the Done screen you can also share a result, open it in Files, or save photos and videos to your library.

Picking files in the app

PDFs and documents come from the Files app, including iCloud Drive and other storage you’ve added there. Photos and videos come from your library, and Sonic Tools only sees the ones you pick.

If a video won’t open, it may be stored only in iCloud. Open it in the Photos app first so it downloads to your device, then try again.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF

These three tools need an internet connection, on the website and in the app, because laying out Office files exactly needs a full office engine. The file is sent to our converter over a secure connection and deleted as soon as the PDF comes back. Files can be up to 50 MB.

Scanning in the app

The scanner needs permission to use the camera. If you said no the first time, open Settings, scroll to Sonic Tools and turn Camera on.

Privacy

There’s no account, no ads and no analytics, and every tool except Office to PDF works on your device. The details are in the privacy policy, and the rules for using Sonic Tools are in the terms of use.
