Is it really free?

Yes. Every tool is free, here and in the app, with no ads, no sign-up, no watermarks on your files and no daily limits.

Do my files get uploaded?

No. The tools run in your browser, so your files are read on your own device and never sent anywhere. The one exception is Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF, which sends the file to our converter and deletes it as soon as the PDF comes back. Those pages say so before you convert.

Why are some tools slower the first time?

Video, background removal and image to text need an engine that runs inside your browser. It downloads from this site the first time you use one, then your browser keeps it for next time.

Is there an app?

Yes. Sonic Tools is coming to iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo, plus a Mac app with the same tools and a menu bar helper that shrinks screenshots as you take them.

Which browsers work?

Recent Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, on a computer or a phone. Video tools are quickest on a computer.
